Memories of school life in Highbridge are being sought by a team working on a new history project.
Churchfield Primary School in Highbridge and Bridgwater-based charity Somerset Film want to hear from members of the community, particularly those aged 50 and over, who are interested in giving some time to working with younger people on the new project, called ‘Marking Time’.
Organiser Deborah Richardson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The aim of ‘Marking Time’ is to record people’s memories of growing up and going to school in Highbridge.”
“We’re particularly keen to hear from those who attended the schools of Beechfield and St John’s schools. We want to document the demolition and re-build of the new school using a variety of methods, including film, photography and audio.”
She added that volunteers will receive training, ongoing support and access to equipment, as required, and will become part of the ‘Company of Voices’, a countywide intergenerational volunteering partnership in conjunction with Somerset County Council.
