Scenes like these on Burnham’s seafront in 1915 will be on display at a special history talk being held in the town tonight (Wednesday, November 10th).
North Sedgemoor Local History Group’s latest gathering will be held at King Alfred School’s Lecture Theatre at 7pm.
Local historian John Strickland will give a talk entitled ‘A Time Travel Trip Around Burnham’ which will provide a visual walkaround the streets of old Burnham. It will feature shops, garages, buildings and features from the 1900s to today.
Visitors are welcome to attend the evening for just £1 each or join group for an annual membership of £3.
George Reed, a person of great historical interest to Burnham, will be among the locals featured during the evening. He paid for the construction of the Reed Arms Hotel, St Andrews School and the Manor Gardens House where he resided.
