One of Hinkley Point nuclear power station’s reactors was restarted on Tuesday morning (January 6th) after shutting down unexpectedly last Friday, a spokeswoman for the energy giant confirmed.
Data from the National Grid showed the reactor was running at 30 Megawatts at 11am on Tuesday.
However, the other reactor at the power station, which shut down unexpectedly early on Monday morning, remained closed.
iThe 610-megawatt Hinkley B8 reactor near Burnham-On-Sea tripped at 12.09am on Monday. Hinkley Point B7 also shut down unexpectedly last Friday afternoon – as first reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com here.
A British Energy spokeswoman described the outages as “minor” and said the causes of the trips were unrelated, adding that the shutdowns would be short.
