Hinkley Point reactor shut down ‘a minor issue’ says British Energy

-

British Energy is working on a restart plan for Hinkley Point power station after it was shut down early on Monday morning (January 5th), a spokeswoman for the company confirmed.

The 610-megawatt Hinkley B8 reactor near Burnham-On-Sea tripped at 12.09am on Monday. Hinkley Point B7 also shut down unexpectedly last Friday afternoon.

The spokeswoman said that the causes of the trips were unrelated and that the shutdowns would be short.

“They are unrelated, they are minor issues, and we are working on restart plans for all of them,” she said.

The company only usually starts work on restart plans once repairs or maintenance work is completed.
