Burnham-On-Sea club takes second place on final night of carnival

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival float made one final appearance on Monday evening (November 15th) when it bowed out with a win on the final night of the carnival season in Weston-super-Mare.

Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club’s cart, called The Show, wended its way along Weston’s streets and seafront, as pictured, in front of big crowds.

The club scooped top place in the juvenile category, having previously won at Wells and achieved second places at Burnham, Bridgwater, North Petherton and Shepton Mallet. Marina Sydenham lifted the overall county cup.

Hillview Cart Captain Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a good final night at Weston and are runners-up in the overall County Cup, but congratulate Marina Sydenham on their thoroughly deserved win.”

“A big thank you goes to all the local people who have helped us this year. We have had a really good carnival, and although the weather has been very wet and cold, we’ve really enjoyed it all. We couldn’t do it, though, without all the support we get from all those local businesses and local people – so thanks to all of our supporters.”

Our photos show the Hillview cart taking part in Monday’s Weston Carnival on the town’s seafront and, above, crossing the finishing line where the road crew applauded the youngsters onboard
