Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club has issued a ‘desperate appeal’ for help to find a new venue to build its cart.
The club – which is due to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year – says its entry into this year’s carnival is at risk unless it can find a new venue to build its float.
“The site we had in mind has fallen through at the last minute and we now have nowhere to build our cart this year,” Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Unless we can quickly find a new location it puts our participation in this year’s carnival at risk which in our 40th anniversary year is absolutely gutting.”
He added: “We are genuinely desperate to find a site and hope that a local person or business may be able to offer us with a farm barn, a large outbuilding or an industrial park unit in the local area.”
“Good-sized units are at a real premium at the moment – we know it’s a tough time to be looking – but we are hoping that someone will come forward to help.”
Mark said that the club is in good shape otherwise to take part. “We have a great team of volunteers at the club ready to help and our fundraising has been going well so it’s so all the more important that we’re able to build a good cart this year.”
“We would urge anyone who can help to get in touch and ‘save the day’ for us in our 40th year.”
