Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club are celebrating this week after finishing the carnival season in the runners-up spot.
The club’s cowboy-themed cart, called ‘Yee Ha!”, featured colourful western decorations and came second in the ‘juvenile’ category at every carnival, which ended in Glastonbury on Saturday (November 18th).
The club’s Lyn Burland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are so proud of all the children who peformed on our cart.”
“They really were such a brilliant group and enjoyed taking part in each of the carnivals despite some horrendous weather.”
“Glastonbury was especially wet on Saturday, but they all put up with the conditions and stayed positive.”
She added: “Hillview have came second in each of the carnivals and so we are runner-up in the juvenile cateory behind Marina Sydenham. The cart is now back in our shed and we are already thinking about next year!”
The club had nineteen young members performing on the cart, several of whom took part for the first time, plus a team of adult helpers who built the cart.
She added that the club thanks Burnham Waste, Mr and Mrs Rickard, The Oaktree, the Lighthouse Pub, Morley Tibbs and Jays Transport for their support.
