Club works round-the-clock to finish cart for Bridgwater Carnival

-

The team at Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club are working around the clock this week, making final preparations to their cart before Friday’s Bridgwater Carnival, which marks the start of the carnival season.

The club’s colourful cart, called ‘One Way Ticket’, is being given a final lick of paint while the huge of job of screwing in thousands of light bulbs has also been underway.

Decorated with more than 10,000 light bulbs, many of which are environmentally-friendly, the cart has cost the club around £12,000 to build.

The club’s children have also been trying on their costumes and rehearsing their routines, as pictured below. This year’s costumes have been been made by Tina Marshall and Lyn Burland for the 19 young members.

Hillview’s Chairman, Mark Bishop, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s been a very busy week, with the team working at all hours of the day to get everything finished in time, but we’re really looking forward to Friday’s Bridgwater Carnival, followed by North Petherton on Saturday and Burnham Carnival on Monday.”

The club warned that there may be slow moving traffic along the A38 while the float travels from Highbridge to Bridgwater early on Friday morning.
