Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club has found a new home after issuing an urgent appeal for help in January when it found it could soon be ‘homeless’.
The long-running club told Burnham-On-Sea.com in January that it was set to lose its existing premises in Highbridge, which are being sold, leaving it with nowhere to build this year’s float.
However, Hillview’s Chairman Mark Bishop (pictured right with float designer Matt Aron) announced at the club’s presentation night on Saturday (March 2nd) that furniture firm Woodberry Brothers have now offered the club a new location at its factory site in Highbridge.
“We are incredibly grateful to Woodberry Brothers for helping us. We will be able to move to the new site later in the year and in the meantime the Bristol Bridge Inn have offered us a temporary home in the meantime.”
“It is great news and a huge relief for everyone at the club following a lot of concern in recent weeks. Woodberry’s and the Bristol Bridge Inn have both been very kind to us in letting us use their land over the years.”
