Final work is underway to complete this year’s carnival float from Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club in time for the start of the carnival season in just a few weeks time.
The club’s Christmas-themed entry is called ‘It’s A Cracker’ and will this year feature a giant Santa and Snowman plus many festive-themed moving parts.
Members at the club, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, are busily painting the cart, screwing in light bulbs and putting the finishing touches to their colourful entry.
It will go on public display for the first time at Bridgwater Carnival on Saturday 7th November and will then take pride of place at Burnham-On-Sea Carnival when it takes place on Monday November 9th.
Hillview’s Duncan Britton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a great Christmas-themed entry this year and we hope that ‘It’s A Cracker’ lives up to its name with a giant Father Christmas, a giant snowman, and many moving parts, including the 17 children onboard!”
“We’re currently putting in many hours in to get it completed, but everything is on track and we have a great spirit going this year.”
“We have had fantastic support from our volunteers, sponsors and supporters, with a special mention for Burnham Waste, and fundraising has been going well too.”
“We’re looking forward to improving on last year’s efforts – the club is going for a win – but it’s the taking part that really matters.”
