More than 100 members and supporters of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club attended the group’s annual presentation night on Saturday (February 8th).

Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop was joined by club President Molly Simmonds and club supporter Roger Cross in handing out dozens of awards and certificates to members in recognition of their work during a ceremony at Highbridge Social Club.

Mark praised the club’s members for their “huge support and dedication” and thanked the club’s many supporters and sponsors over the past year.

He also looked forward to a busy year ahead as the club prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The Chairman’s Choice and Kid’s Choice trophies went to Sian Fisher, pictured above with Mark Bishop. Trophies were also presented to Emily Elswood for most promising member, Lottie Nicholson for best girl, Joe Lawrence for best boy, Jack Britton for best newcomer, Sian Fisher for best all-rounder, and Jasmine Cross for most improved.

During the evening, the club also handed over a cheque for £300 to Cancer Research after a successful collection during the club’s annual Christmas charity float collection last December, taking the total to £2,866 since 2008.

Cancer Research spokesman Keith Fishlock, who received the cheque, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are incredibly grateful to the club for all their support over the past eight years – they have raised a super sum for us.”
