Highbridge’s King Alfred School Sixth Form tops the Oxbridge and Russell Group charts

-

Highbridge’s King Alfred School Academy Sixth Form Centre is topping the charts of Somerset schools for students going on to Oxbridge or Russell Group universities.

King Alfred School Academy has been found to be the best local school for both Oxbridge and Russell Group university admissions.

37% of students get into a Russell Group university, compared to an 18% national average while 2% make it into Oxford or Cambridge, compared to 1% nationally.

The figures have been published by the Department for Education as sixth form and college students begin applying for higher education.

Principal Dan Milford says: “This is absolutely magnificent news for our entire community.”

“This is so well-deserved and thanks go to our wonderful students, staff, support teams, parents, carers, governors, and entire community.”

“TKASA Sixth Form Centre is such a brilliant place to study and provides a top class education to students, balanced with superb pastoral support and guidance.”

The Sixth Form has seen its numbers double in recent years, becoming increasingly popular in the area and also Weston-super-Mare and Bridgwater.

There have been over £5 million of site improvements across the school and Sixth Form, including a stunning expanded new block.

As well as the success of students getting their chosen universities they also make it into top apprenticeships all over the UK.

There is also a very wide range of A Level subjects for students to choose from with extensive extra curricular activities to enjoy, in addition to there being a fabulous community feel and atmosphere.

Head of the Sixth Form Centre, Doug Radnidge, adds: “We would be delighted to show any prospective students around our brilliant sixth form.”

“There is an excellent buzz around our sixth form and it is a fabulous place to learn, enjoy a wide range of enrichment activities and make new friends.”
