Part of a Highbridge housing estate was closed by Police on Friday (March 21st) after a scaffolding contractor was hurt when a metal pole struck a power line, giving him an electric shock and bringing down an electricity line.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to the Poplar Estate in Highbridge, as pictured here, and found the metal pole still resting against the line.
A Police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called at 2.43pm to reports that a power line had been damaged in the Poplar Estate.”
“Officers attended, as well as the fire and ambulance services, and remained at the scene while repairs were carried out.”
It was confirmed that one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police diverted traffic and pedestrians around the impacted area until the lines were made safe.
