New residents’ association aims to increase safety in Highbridge

-

Residents and landlords at a housing development in Highbridge met local police this week to discuss ways to improve safety and set up a new residents’ association.

The meeting took place at Highbridge Quay on Monday (January 12th) and was well supported, with the majority of the landlords taking part, along with Property Link and the Highbridge Quay Management Company, Holdshare.

PC Ryan Dinham of the Highbridge Beat Team told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Highbridge Quay has been identified as an area that would benefit from a multi-agency approach to drive forward improvements in the area, aiming to give local residents a better quality of life.”

“As a result, key individuals have been meeting with local police and partnership agencies to start the process. Early indications show that this is a very positive move and the Highbridge beat team look forward to a stronger, safer, neighbourhood.”

The setting up of a new residents’ association is underway to give local people a voice and any Highbridge Quay residents who are interested in joining or finding out more should contact PCSO Udall on 07917 750861.

It was mentioned at the meeting that police and other agencies have received helpful information regarding various incidents at Highbridge Quay by way of anonymous letters in recent months and PCSO Udall urged the author to get in contact to discuss them further.

The beat team are also expanding the Burnham Partners and Communities Together (PACT) initiative to give local people a chance to influence what happens in their neighbourhood. PACT is a mechanism whereby issues identified at PACT meetings are taken to a PACT partnership panel where courses of action are agreed. The next Highbridge PACT meeting is on Thursday February 19th at a venue to be arranged – this will be posted on Burnham-On-Sea.com nearer the time.
