The 2004 Festival Of The Arts
The 57th Highbridge Festival of The Arts took place at The Princess theatre, Burnham-On-Sea between March 5th and March 20th, 2004.
More than 650 acts entered the festival this year after it was moved from May to March to avoid clashes with school exams.
The festival kicked off with a weekend of dance between March 5th and 7th. This was followed by speech and drama performances on Monday March 8th and Tuesday 9th with singers on Wednesday March 10th and Thursday, March 11. The event ended with instrumental performances on Friday March 12th and Saturday March 13th.
The best from each section was picked by the judges and performed for a second time in a concert at The Princess on Saturday March 20th at 7pm.
The event was affiliated with The British and International Federation of Festivals For Music, Dance and Speech of which her Majesty the Queen is Patron.
