Highbridge-based agricultural building supplies firm Briarwood has decided to continue trading during the Coronavirus pandemic in order to support farmers across the country.
The company has said this week its ‘core’ business is supporting farmers’ needs by supplying building materials to support animal welfare and production, in turn enabling them to maintain supplies of grain, dairy and livestock foods.
“For this reason, the whole team at Briarwood feels strongly that they need to support our customers every way they possibly can,” says a Briarwood spokeswoman.
“Even during the lockdown, the business is still fully operational; the office is open to receive orders and our transport fleet is delivering materials nationwide. In fact, we have had to increase their delivery logistics to facilitate the growth demand.”
Director Oliver Janes adds: “This is not a decision that has been taken lightly. The safety of everyone is our number one priority and we wish to maintain supporting our customers, especially those who provide essential farm building construction and maintenance which is key to supporting the British food supply.”
Briarwood says they have had to make some changes to the way they operate in order to ensure their staff are protected and they comply with the Government guidelines.
The firm has closed its trade counter to the public and drivers do not have any customer contact on delivery. Masks and sanitisers are available to all staff and everyone complies with social distancing within the warehouse, office and onsite. The company has also implemented regular deep cleaning within its 21-acre building.
“As a family of British farmers, Briarwood fully understands the crucial importance of the agricultural industry and how vital it is to keep Britain farming.”
