Summer is set to finally arrive this week – with the Burnham-On-Sea area predicted to enjoy its hottest temperatures of the year so far.
After a disappointing summer so far, the Met Office forecasts soaring temnperatures from the early part of the week.
On Monday temperatures and humidity will start to build and the mercury should reach 26C (78.8F).
Tuesday will be even hotter with temperatures reaching a balmy 30C – or 86F – in the Burnham-On-Sea area.
However, the Met Office says there could be heavy showers in between the sunshine and the hot weather is not set to last with a return to more unsettled and cooler conditions in the second half of the week.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Humidity will rise on Monday and Tuesday with plenty of sunshine, very warm temperatures and perhaps the odd heavy shower.”
“There is also the risk of more widespread thundery showers overnight into Wednesday.”
