Crowds of visitors flocked to Burnham-On-Sea over the weekend when temperatures in the town were warmer than many Mediterranean holiday resorts.
This was the scene on Burnham’s Esplanade on Sunday afternoon (May 23rd) when crowds of walkers thronged the seafront and beach users filed onto the sand.
Temperatures reached 25° Centigrade (77°F) on Saturday and 26° Centigrade (78.8°F) on Sunday as the heatwave continued.
Shops in the town enjoyed a bumper weekend, with amusement arcades and cafes reporting particularly brisk business.
Burnham’s Chamber of Trade Chairman, Geoff Shickle, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Given some fine weather, it’s good to see that Burnham still attracts large numbers of the traditional bucket-and-spade visitors. The town really benefited from the good weather this weekend.”
The hot weather is set to continue during the early part of this week.
