Brean beachwarden Dave Furber has been praised for saving the life of a walker by reviving him with a defibrillator this evening (Easter Sunday).
The 47-year-old walker suffered a heart attack half way up the steep steps of Brean Down shortly after 5pm, prompting a huge response by emergency services, as pictured here.
Ambulance and Coastguard crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called to the scene. They found Mr Furber, pictured, had successfully revived the man using the specialist medical equipment.
The man was carried down the steps on a stretcher by Coastguards and ambulance crews to a waiting ambulance.
He was driven a short distance to a Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in a nearby field before being flown to Weston General Hospital for treatment.
Mr Furber told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The man was not breathing when I arrived, so I quickly collected our defibrillator and ran up the steps to use it on him.”
“A lady was also giving him CPR and we were so relieved when he came around. The family was very grateful, but I just did what I am trained to do.”
