Harp Road accident blackspot near Burnham claims a sixth car

-

An accident blackspot near Burnham-On-Sea claimed another casualty on Tuesday (December 8th).

The driver of this Peugeot went off Harp Road into a ditch early while driving between the villages of Mark and Brent Knoll.

Police spokesman Craig Evry told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called by a member of the public at around 6.45am.”

“No-one was in the car but we got in touch with the owner and confirmed they had got out safely.”

It’s the sixth accident in Harp Road since the middle of August, with five motorists ending up in ditches, leading to calls for safety improvements.

District councillor Bob Filmer, who represents the area, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Many people are simply driving too fast along this road, but we do need to find some way to improve the safety there. For visitors who are unfamiliar with this route it looks like a straight road and they often speed up, when in fact there are some nasty sharp bends lurking along there.”
