Burnham-On-Sea town centre is ‘blooming’ again for summer season

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s town centre has been given an extra dash of colour this week as scores of hanging baskets went up for the summer season and in time for judging of the Britain In Bloom competition.

Community group Burnham In Bloom installed flower baskets along the High Street and side streets on Thursday evenoing (June 1st).

Dave Perrett, Chairman of the group, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve installed a record number of 28 hanging bakets in the town centre this week, which will be in place through the summer until September, weather permitting.”

“They help to brighten up our town centre throughout the busy tourist season and will also be in place for the Britain In Bloom judges.”

As we first reported here, Burnham-On-Sea is entering the prestigious Britain In Bloom competition in 2017 for the first time in six years.

The judges are due to assess the town centre over the coming weeks with a formal visit scheduled for July.

Mr Perrett thanked Burnham Highbridge Town Council for their “kind financial support” in helping to fund the flower display this year.

He added that Sherwood Maintenance has helped to install the flower baskets in Burnham this week. Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club has been contracted to water the flower baskets three times a week throughout the summer season.

The flower baskets have been installed alongside new ‘welcome to Burnham’ banners which were funded from the Tesco town centre regeneration funding.
