A fundraising comedy night held in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (January 13th) raised £500 for a local community group.
The event at The Ritz Social Club was held for Hands of Change, which launched two years ago to help local people in need and do good in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.
Drag comedy act Pixie Perez entertained the capacity audience of over 100 people with humour through the evening.
Founder Kay Barrett said: “On behalf of the group I would like to say a massive thank you to The Ritz Social Club, Paul Hale, Mike Barsby and the team at the Ritz for organizing a fantastic fundraiser for Hands Of Change. Thank you to everyone that came along to support us, raising £500.”
Paul thanked those who attended for their support and said Pixie would return. he also thanked DJ Chops for providing the disco free of charge.
Hands of Change works on the basis that a little kindness can go a long way. It has organised and runs a wide range of local activities with this in mind.
Activities include a regular tea party for elderly and isolated people, a monthly craft session for people with mental health issues, a fortnightly social group for people with aspergers and autism, and a fortnightly drop-in for all.
