A fundraising comedy night is set to be held in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (January 13th) for a local community group.
The event will held Hands of Change, based in Burnham-On-Sea, which launched two years ago to encourage more local community social interaction and help people in need.
The Ritz Social Club in Burnham-On-Sea’s Victoria Street is holding the Comedy Night this Saturday featuring ‘Pixie Perez’, a comedy drag artist.
All profits made on the night will go to Hands of Change, which The Ritz have chosen as their ‘charity’ of the year for 2018.
Hands of Change started as a small group of friends wanting to do some good in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.
They work on the basis that a little kindness can go a long way. Hands of Change have organised and run a wide range of activities in the community, including a regular tea party for elderly and isolated people, a monthly craft session for people with mental health issues, a fortnightly social group for people with aspergers and autism, and a fortnightly drop-in for all.
Last year, they also collected clothing for a homeless person and arranged with a local restaurant for a ‘pay it forward’ tree, where diners can leave a donation on the tree, so someone who is homeless can go and have a free meal.
