A Burnham-On-Sea actress is set to appear in Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society’s production of ‘Hairspray’ in April.
Clare Hunter, a regular performer with local pantomime society Coastline Players and Weston Operatic Society, is playing Penny Pingleton. She will appear alongside leading lady Leah Farmer, who is playing Tracey Turnblad.
Made famous by the 2007 film, the Tony award winning and West End smash hit musical brings to life the bubbly character of Tracy Turnblad and her love of dancing. The teenager dreams of becoming a star on the Corney Collins Dance Show and changing 1960’s American Society’s attitude to racial segregation.
Performances run at Bridgwater Town Hall from April 21st to 25th at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday April 25th. Tickets cost £10-£16 and are available from the Box Office on 01278 662181.
“With an upbeat score of feel-good songs, rhythm and blues and sixties tunes, this show is a must see event,” said Clare. “Bridgwater Amateur Operatic Society simply can’t wait to perform this bursting with life show, so make sure you come and share the energy and fun of Hairspray.”
