Burnham-On-Sea youngster’s hair raises over £800 for cancer charity

-

A Burnham-On-Sea youngster has raised hundreds of pounds for charity by donating several inches of her hair.

Ruby Barton, 10, decided to give seven inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust, who provide real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Ruby, a pupil at Burnham’s St Andrew’s School, decided to help them after hearing about the charity’s good work.

She had her special cut at Burnham’s Central Hair Studio in Abingdon Street – and has raised £636 which, after Gift Aid is added, makes a total of £815.

The Little Princess Trust has helped hundreds of young people across the country and its mission is to supply real-hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment. They also assist children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.
