Guides welcome Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress Bill and Frances Hancock were the VIP guests at a special Girlguiding Burnham District event.

Over 300 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Leaders aged 5-85 from around Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge, Brent Knoll, East Brent and Berrow gathered for the event in Brent Knoll.

Organiser Jess Sinnott told Burnham-On-Sea: “The event was held in memory of Connie Robb, a past Burnham District Commissioner that is remembered every year with a themed event.”

“This year had a ‘rodeo’ theme and the girls took part in a range of activities, including craft, line dancing, a rodeo bull and cactus hoopla!”

“They also had hot dogs and enjoyed a disco with their Guiding friends from around the area.”

“It was lovely to see the girls enjoying themselves and taking part in all the fun! Adventures like this are just part of the range of activities open to girls and young women through Girlguiding, which gives them their own space to grow in confidence, raise their aspirations and have a good time.”

“We are also always looking for more volunteers to help with local units. For further information contact Girlguiding on 0800 1 69 59 01 or visit www.girlguiding.org.uk.”
