A group of Burnham-On-Sea Ranger Guides were celebrating on Saturday (March 14th) after receiving their silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
The six girls have been working hard on practical and educational tasks over a period of 18 months.
Their challenges included a 30 mile unaccompanied expedition across Exmoor, carrying their camping equipment, and they have also completed a period of voluntary service to local Brownie and Rainbow units.
On Saturday, they were presented with their awards by the County Guide Commissioner, Barbara Dale, at the Guide County Day at the Kings of Wessex School in Cheddar.
Ranger Unit leader Rachel Burland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are all really pleased for the girls – they have worked so hard to achieve these awards.”
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme challenges youngsters up to age 25 to achieve their full personal and physical potential with a series of activities, ranging from the bronze to gold award.
