TV comedy duo prove a sell-out success at Brean Leisure Park

-

A comedy duo who are well known for their TV and radio performances dating back to the 1960s entertained a packed audience in Brean at the weekend.

Over 250 people filled Brean Leisure Park’s Farmers Tavern on Saturday night (October 16th) to watch The Grumbleweeds put on an comedy show.

Robin Colvill and Graham Walker, pictured, formed the group in 1962, which appeared on TV’s Opportunity Knocks and New Faces, hosted by Max Bygraves.

It was on radio, however, where the Grumbleweeds made their major breakthrough with the successful BBC Radio 2 series The Grumbleweeds Radio Show, which ran from 1979 to 1988 and won a ‘Best Radio Show’ award at The Television and Radio Industries Awards in 1983.

The Grumbleweeds remain a popular attraction on the cabaret circuit and have recently appeared on TV series including Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Heartbeat.

Asked by Burnham-On-Sea.com what the secret of their success during their visit to Brean, Robin said: “It’s keeping our gags and impressions as up-to-date as possible. Our audiences know they are in for a great night’s entertainment.”
