Group formed to lead Town Council’s talks on planned move into town centre

-

Burnham and Highbridge Town Council has this week edged a further step closer to moving into Burnham-On-Sea’s former adult learning centre in the town centre and selling off its current council chambers in Jaycroft Road.

During an online meeting of the council’s Finances & Resources Committee on Monday evening (April 27th), councillors formally appointed a working group who will oversee the talks.

The group will comprise of Cllr Andy Brewer, Cllr Peter Clayton, Cllr Phil Harvey, Cllr Mike Facey and Cllr Mike Murphy.

In March, we reported here that town councillors had voted in favour of starting formal discussions with Somerset County Council to potentially purchase the former Somerset Skills and Learning (SS&L) centre in Burnham’s Princess Street, pictured above.

Burnham’s SS&L adult learning centre has been vacant since closing in December 2017 due to funding cuts.
