Somerset County Council’s gritters will be out in force in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge over the next few nights as temperatures are predicted to plunge below freezing.
The Met Office says temperatures across Somerset could drop as low as -8 degrees Centigrade by the middle of this week.
The council’s gritters, pictured here last winter, will be treating main roads and some secondary roads in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge – as outlined on its gritting routes list – using thousands of tonnes of salt.
Motorists in the Burnham and Highbridge area are being urged to drive carefully on the icy road surfaces over the next few nights.
