The opening of a new greengrocer in Burnham-On-Sea has helped boost the trade of other food shops in the town centre.
Burnham’s Gardiner-Whites greengrocers opened last week at 25 The High Street, offering a mixture of fresh fruit, vegetables and food produce.
Owners Richard and Jax Gardiner-White, pictured, say the business has had a busy first few days.
“We’ve seen an average of 800 transations a day – and almost 1,000 on Friday alone – so a big thank you goes to all the local people for their support,” Richard told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Other traders selling complementary foods have also benefited in the town centre.
Ron Bashford at Truckles farm shop in The High Street told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A good greengrocery store has been long overdue in Burnham and is very welcome – our sales of fresh meat and poultry have definitely been up this past week with extra people in the High Street.”
Ryan Mount at Burnham fishmonger Seafoods added: “Our trade has been up over the last week – every day has been busier than expected. More local people seem to be coming into the town centre for their food shop, giving Burnham a shot in the arm.”
And Colin Morris at GW Hurleys told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m very pleased to see the new greengrocers has opened – it seems to have given a boost to the town centre. The High Street has been busy this past week.”
