Green flags proudly raised at Burnham’s Marine Cove and Highbridge’s Apex Park

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens and Highbridge’s Apex Park have proudly unveiled their new green flags this week after being named among the UK’s top green spaces.

Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, Cllr Peter Clayton, raised two green flags – one at Apex Park in Highbridge and one at Marine Cove on Burnham seafront.

The international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the park boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained, and has excellent visitor facilities.

At Marine Cove Gardens, the chairman raised the flag, watched by Brenda Dibley and Patsy Kilgour from Friends of Marine Cove Gardens. At Apex Park, the Chaiman was joined by ward councillors and the Friends of Apex Park.

Cllr Peter Clayton said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive these Green Flag Awards.”

“It is with thanks to Sedgemoor’s Parks, Clean Surroundings and Dog Warden staff, as well as the incredible support from the Friends of Apex Park Improvements Group and the Friends of Marine Cove, that these parks are in such tip-top condition for visitors.”
