Burnham enjoys hottest day of the year so far as temperatures hit 24.1°C (75.3°F)

-

Temperatures reached 24.1°C (75.3°F) on Friday afternoon (April 19th), the warmest day of the year locally so far – and forecasters predict that thermometers could go higher over this weekend.

The Burnham-On-Sea area is set to enjoy a balmy Easter weekend of sunny weather – giving local tourism businesses a welcome boost.

The weather has already helped to boost numbers of Easter visitors at holiday parks in the Burnham area and it’s also helping trade at shops in the town centre.

“Burnham’s town centre has been busy this week with holidaymakers and locals visiting our shops and cafes while enjoying the great weather,” said a Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesperson. “It has been a good start to the holiday season for many.”

The Met Office has warned that there will be high UV levels in the Burnham area and so it is urging those enjoying the weather to use sun protection.
