Unique ‘grave talk’ sessions launch at Burnham-On-Sea cafe

-

A unique new event called Grave Talk is being launched in Burnham-On-Sea this month.

Reverend Sharon Eldergill, Curate of St Andrew’s Church in Burnham, explains: “It’s not easy to talk about death, dying and funerals, yet talking through and being prepared for eventualities can reduce fear and stress when the time comes, and help people to live their lives more fully in the meantime.”

“For those with big questions about death, dying and funerals, having someone to talk to can be invaluable. But how do you start those conversations, and with whom?”

“The Church of England has been helping people think about these kinds of things for centuries, and have recently launched ‘Grave Talk’, a cafe space where people can ponder and discuss these big questions.”

On Tuesday September 20th there will be a Grave Talk session at the Crafty Teacup Cafe in Victoria Street, led by Reverend Sharon.

She added: “Despite the name, Grave talk is a relaxed and informal space where there will be coffee, cake, conversation and laughter as we break down some of the taboos we have in our culture of discussing this most inevitable of events.”

“You don’t have to say anything, but conversation is made easy by ice breaker discussion cards such as ‘what would you like your lasting legacy to be’ or who has inspired you most in your life, and why?”

“People attending Grave Talk sessions in other places around the country have found them to be hugely enjoyable and informative for adults of any age, whether they follow any faith or none.”

Tickets are available for the Burnham Grave talk event from the Crafty Teacup or from Rev Sharon, priced at £4, which includes a cup of tea or coffee and a muffin.
