More than 20 groups and charities in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have this week received grant donations from the town council.
Burnham’s Mayor Michael Clarke handed out cheques amounting to over £3,000 to the organisations on Monday evening (January 10th) during the council’s annual grant presentation.
“We are delighted to provide some financial help to these community groups in Burnham and Highbridge,” said the Mayor.
The recepients incide Highbridge and Burnham Carnival Committee £200, Highbridge Festival of Arts £200, Highbridge Football Club £75, The Shed Youth Club £100, Monarchs £200, BOS Camera Club £50, Sedgemoor Community Partnership £100, Coastline Singers £150 and Windows Carers Group £150.
Also benefiting were BEES £200, Burnham-On-Sea Disabled Swimmers £200, Burnham United Juniors £75, Highbridge Children’s Centre £100, Burnham Neighbourhood Watch £50, Titans Amateur Boxing £170, Burnham and Highbridge Choral Society £150, Weston Hospice Care £200, Rosewood Action Team £50, Vale of Avalon £200, 1st Burnham Scouts Group £150, Sedgemoor Play Day £200, BAY Centre £160, BOS and Highbridge Sea Cadets £150, Burnham Flutation Group £150 and BOS and Highbridge Army Cadets £150.
The money comes from council funds and cash raised at November’s fireworks night collection.
