Graffiti vandals target Burnham-On-Sea jetty

-

Vandals have sprayed graffiti across Burnham-On-Sea’s jetty and stolen an inflatable life-ring, angering council bosses this week.

Sedgemoor District Council’s cleaners spent several hours removing the painted messages from the sides of the jetty and parts of the sea wall on Thursday.

And the council has replaced a life ring that was stolen from the top of the jetty earlier this week.

Resort officer Graham Newing told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The graffiti was daubed across the jetty and sea wall in an area that is busy with tourists and visitors.”

“Quick action was needed to remove the messages and our Clean Surroundings Team did this as soon as possible.”

“It is very sad that vandals have done this and, clearly, to steal a life ring could put someone’s life in danger.”

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
