-

A talented young singer from Brent Knoll is making final preparations to show off her vocal talent in the final of a national competition this Saturday (18th January).

Gracie Wickens-Sweet, 9, has reached the grand final of the ‘Star of Stage’ competition in Wales.

The contest is the UK’s largest musical theatre competition and Gracie was picked last year by five top judges who made her the ‘top scorer’ in her age group.

She will be performing in Saturday’s final at The Sherman Theatre in Cardiff where she will be judged by Connie Fisher, the winner of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC1 Show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, and David Mahoney of TV’s Only Men Aloud plus other celebrity judges.

Gracie told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is really exciting. I’m looking forward to singing in front of my friends and family, who will be coming along too – it will be a great day!”

Her singing coach Siobhan Johnson from Burnham added: “Gracie is an amazing young singer who has an outstanding, fantastically mature voice. She’s such a powerful singer. She’s is so incredible that her voice has even made me cry in lessons!”

“When she performs she has a natural ability of lighting up a stage with her incredible talent and presence. She was definitely born to perform on a stage.”

“She is a complete pleasure and delight to teach and she continually makes her parents extremely proud of her.”

There will be a £3,000 prize pool for the winner, including the opportunity for a headline performance at the Wales Millennium Centre as part of the Cardiff Music Festival and a recording package in London and a management deal.
