Brent Knoll singer Gracie Wickens-Sweet has progressed through to this week’s semi-finals stage of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
The 11-year-old was last night selected to appear in this week’s live semi-final shows when she was among the final 40 acts chosen from the remaining 200 contestants.
It comes after Gracie gave a powerful performance of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ last week, watched by several of her local fans, pictured, earning her four yeses from the celebrity judges who included Simon Cowell.
Her mum, Anne Sweet, told Burnham-On-Sea.com after seeing the show: “It’s just incredible – the episode showed the high standard of competition that Gracie’s been up against and how well she’s done so far to get into the semi-finals.”
“We’re so excited about the live shows. The experience has been incredible so far and Gracie is enjoying every minute. To get through to the final 40 is such an achievement.”
On last week’s show, Simon Cowell called her “really likeable” while Amanda Holden described her performance as “just fantastic!”
Gracie won Burnham-On-Sea’s ‘BOS Factor’ talent show last November when she wowed the audience by singing the same song.
Last month, dozens of supporters crowded into Brent Knoll Parish Hall for a special concert by the young singer, as reported here. Gracie, a pupil at Hugh Sexey School, also previously competed in the UK’s Teenstar talent competition where she reached the area finals and got selected for the O2 final by the judges.
Gracie’s confident performance of ‘Over the Rainbow’ won last year’s ‘BOS Factor’ talent competition in Burnham, as reported here.
