The proposals involve the demolition of the current house at 24 Golf Links Road and the formation of three 2-bed apartments, one 3–bed bungalow, three 3-bed terraced dwellings and two 5-bed detached dwellings plus 17 parking spaces.
Deputy Town Clerk Denise Emery told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Members were happy to see the diversity of property proposed in this application as it offered apartments, town house, large family homes and a bungalow.”
“This is in line with the balanced breakdown in the council’s Core Strategy and what the Town Council have asked for in previous developments.”
“Members were also pleased to note that the applicant had addressed the issue of access so that vehicle movement to and from the site was not onto the very busy Berrow Road, but via Gold Links Road.”
The Town Council committee decided to lodge ‘no observations’ on the proposals and this conclusion has gone to Sedgemooor District’s planning department, who will consider the application.
The proposals have been submitted by the land owner, town councillor Martin Cox, who was not present at this week’s council meeting, having declared his interest in the scheme.
He was represented at this week’s meeting by Ben Ponting from architects Aspire Planning, who outlined the proposals to town councillors.
Sedgemoor District Council – which will have the ultimate decision on whether the plans are approved – is inviting comments from interested parties as part of its normal consultation period, which runs until September 16th.
