Over £4,000 was raised for charity when a celebrity-backed golf day was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (April 28th).

BBC TV sports presenter John Inverdale was joined by Sir Gareth Edwards CBE, a Welsh former rugby union player, and Matt Perry, a leading English rugby union rugby player.

They were among 70 golfers playing at the day-long event at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, held in aid of Cerebral Palsy.

Organiser Carl Turnell told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were delighted to have the celebrity backing for the day – we couldn’t have done it without them and thank everyone who played.”

“It was a very successful event that we estimate has raised over £4,000.”

He added: “My son Harry, who is 14, suffers from Cerebral Palsy, so we arranged the golf day to give something back and raise funds to help other children with Cerebral Palsy.”

“Harry and his brother Freddie are keen players and took part. We hope that this golf day can become an annual event for charity.”

An auction page has also been set up as part of the day where people can bid for several great items – it’s still online here.
