Golden success for gymnasts from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge

-

Young Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge gymnasts from Monarchs Gymnastics Club are celebrating golden success after competing in the Scottish Open Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships at the weekend.

The Highbridge-based club was invited to take part in the prestigious championships in Glasgow over the weekend and its members flew up from Bristol Airport, helped by a grant given by the Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.

“There were many teams from Scotland taking part, including the Scottish National Team, as well as several London clubs, as well as gymnasts from South Tyneside with a very high standard of gymnastics overall,” the club’s Mandy Warburton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Our grade 5 mens four – Joe Reed, Toby Baker, Jack Warburton and Mason Wall – came home with gold medals, along with our 13-19 Junior Mens pair Joe Blake and Kian Hawkes, who also won gold.”

“These gymnasts, along with a women’s trio and a women’s pair, are now in training to compete in Italy in July.”

“The club has a very busy competition year ahead, with the regional prelims in March and we are hoping to take a large team to Mainz in Germany in October.”

The club has classes throughout the week for toddlers, pre-school and recreational groups for all ages. Click here for more details.
