Glastonbury Festival’s Michael Eavis to switch on Burnham-On-Sea Christmas lights

-

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis will be the special guest turning on Burnham-On-Sea’s Christmas lights next month.

Mr Eavis has been a long-time supporter of Burnham, frequently visiting the town, and he said in a national newspaper interview that the “laid back and unspoilt town” is his favourite place in Somerset.

Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade is organising the annual Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday November 23rd, with the support of the Town Council.

“A day of festive entertainment will be held through the afternoon leading up to the switch-on,” said a Chamber spokesman.

“There will be musicians, dancers and singers from the local area performing all day alongside stalls and attractions.”

Michael Eavis will hit the plunger at 6pm to light up the town centre for Christmas.

The event will be held in Victoria Street next to the town’s Christmas tree at the junction with the Victoria Hotel.
