Lifeguards’ plea after discarded glass causes accidents in Burnham

-

Burnham-On-Sea lifeguards are appealing to people who take bottles of drink onto the town’s beach or sea wall steps to remove their empty bottles afterwards following several accidents in which children have cut themselves on broken glass.

Three children cut their feet on a single day earlier this week, prompting the appeal from Burnham jetty supervisor David Whitehead.

Mr Woodhead told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We frequently have to sweep away shards of broken pieces of glass, which are causing accidents and posing a risk to people who use the beach.”

“There are plenty of bins along the seafront – we’d ask people to please be considerate and use them.”
