Dozens of art lovers flocked to an exhibition in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (April 10th) to help raise cash for a school in India.
The ‘R-Tex’ exhibition at Burnham Baptist Church Hall in College Street raised funds for the Peter Gilliard Memorial School in Rajahmundry, India which is named after Highbridge resident Peter Gilliard, who died in 2002.
The school, which educates over 360 children, costs £2,000 a month to keep running and is funded by events in the Burnham area, including the annual Smile Walk, photo exhibitions, bric-a-brac sales, quiz nights and carnival collections.
Organiser Pat Leslie told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day and thank everyone for their support.”
She said a further fundraising art exhibition will be held on July 31st at the same location, which will again be open to the public.
Saturday’s event included a display of photos from Richard Phillips (pictured at the top of this page), plus paintings and other artwork.
