A gig rowing regatta is set to take place today (Sunday) in Burnham-On-Sea involving teams from along the Somerset coastline.
Six teams are expected to be involved including Burnham, Bristol, Combwich, Clevedon, Porlock and Portishead.
There are scheduled to be six races in total, with a Mens A+B, Ladies A+B, a mixed Vets (over40s) and a mixed Supervets (over 50s) with the first race starting at around 12.30pm.
The crews will be launching from the beach by the town jetty, and the course will be around the buoys in the Parrett estuary and back along the seafront.
A Burnham & Highbridge Town Council spokeswoman said: “The council is pleased to support the gig rowing group with a recent grant to purchase exercise equipment and wishes the Burnham team success in its races.”
