Newly-formed gig rowing club set to meet in Burnham this Thursday

The first meeting of a new Cornish Pilot Gig Rowing Club in Burnham-On-Sea is set to take place this Thursday (August 20th) with newcomers welcome to join.

Information was available during Burnham’s Rescue Services Day on Burnham seafront earlier this month when a display was held, as pictured here.

“Gig rowing is currently the country’s fastest growing team water sports ideal for the highly competitive through to anyone just looking for healthy exercise,” said Burnham Sailing Club’s Commodore Dave Wrennell.

“Gigs needs a crew of six rowers and a cox, and many of the current registered teams are all girls crews.”

“Anyone interested in helping us form a new club is invited along to the Burnham Sailing Club at 7.30pm this Thursday.”
