New gig rowing club to hold naming ceremony in Burnham today

-

A new Burnham-On-Sea gig rowing club is set to unveil its new boat on Saturday (November 21st).

“The official naming ceremony for our first Cornish Pilot Gig will take place at 11.45am this Saturday followed by the launching of the boat from the town jetty, weather permitting,” the club’s Graham Wills told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It will be manned by some of our new gig rowing members and will represent a first for Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club and the local community.”

Burnham Sailing Club was recently successful in being awarded £1,000 of funding towards the new gig rowing club by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.

The ceremony will be held at the town’s lifeboat station in Pier Street.
