Burnham-On-Sea Tae Kwon-Do students head to world championships

A team from Burnham-On-Sea’s Gemini Tae Kwon-Do Club are set to prove that they are among the best in the world.

Students from Gemini Tae-Kwon-Do club, who train at Highbridge’s King Alfred School, are getting ready to compete at the World TAGB Championships next month.

Five Burnham students – Matthew Palfrey, Isabelle Froggatt and Stephen Barnshaw, plus Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds – will be among 19 students travelling to Birmingham over the weekend of July 16/17 to compete in the event.

The world championships attract over 3,000 competitors from all over the world.

Club instructor Jane Lambert told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This will be the largest ever number of local competitors taking part, so we are very excited for them.”

“I’m incredibly happy and proud for them – they are all working so hard and to reach the world chamnpionships is a great achievement.”

Classes are held at King Alfred School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when men, women and children of all abilities are welcome.
