Photos: GCSE exam results celebrations for King Alfred School pupils
Pupils at King Alfred School in Highbridge were celebrating on Thursday (August 20th) after the school recorded a significant rise in its GCSE performance this year.
The school’s year 11 intake received their GCSE results on Thursday morning, which revealed a six per cent rise in the number of candidates acheiving five GCSEs grade A*-C, when maths and English are included.
Specifically in maths, 70 per cent of students gained a C grade or better, with good results also recorded in music, sports studies and drama.
Headteacher Denise Hurr told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The governors and I would like to thank parents, staff and students for a great year. We are very proud of the achievements of all our students.”
There were many outstanding individual performances, including Isobel Bolitho 9A*, 2 A’s and a B, Thomas Harkness 9 A*and 2 A’s, Paris Hazelton Cavil 4 A*, 6 A’s and Edward Yip 4 A*, 6 A’s and a B.
