Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress handed out awards to members of the town’s Gateway Club during their annual presentation night on Thursday (July 28th).
Michael and Maria Clarke were among the guests at the function held in the town’s BAY Centre, pictured here.
The club – which has been running for 32 years – provides social activities for local adults with learning disabilities.
Club leader Barbara Thorogood told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “20 awards were handed out to the club members who have done particularly well in our activities over the past seven months – from darts and dominoes to table tennis and skittles. We are very grateful for the Mayor and Mayoress coming along to present the awards.”
The winners were as follows – Table tennis: Chris Smith, John Hathaway and Michelle Dyer; Pool: Chris Smith, Robin Meader and Paul Rouse; Skittles: Chris Smith, Andrew Gordon and Phil Dyer; Dominoes: Stephen Porter, Sue Matthews and Christine Field; Darts: Peter Hawkins, John Hathaway and Andrew Gordon. The shield was won by Susan and Wendy Turner. The trophy for boys was won by Stuart Robertson and the girls’ trophy was won by Alison Edney.
The club’s supporters, pictured, were thanked for their work
